Arizona EMS and Trauma System is a comprehensive statewide system dedicated to improving the delivery of emergency medical services in Arizona. The system comprises a network of providers and hospitals ranging from state-designated trauma centers to ambulance services and more. It also encourages state-funded research and education in order to improve the EMS system.

Arizona Department of Health Services oversees the coordination of an extensive statewide system of emergency medicine services. This includes oversight of the Base Hospital and EMS rules, which regulate the operations of EMS companies in Arizona. In addition to overseeing a network of base hospitals and EMS providers in Arizona, the department has a vested stake in the creation of a statewide Trauma Registry.

The University of Arizona's Department of Emergency Medicine has been a leader in emergency medicine care. It offers subspecialty training on disaster preparedness and emergency medical services. It also has excellent relationships with local EMS agencies. However, the statewide EMS and Trauma System is still in its infancy.

The State of Arizona is not the largest EMS market in the country, but it does have an EMS industry that is thriving. You have many benefits when you operate in Arizona. First and foremost is your chance to make an immediate difference in the lives for people who depend on emergency medicine services.

The Arizona EMS and Trauma System is aimed at providing high quality emergency medical care in a cost effective manner. This can be done in a number of ways, including by establishing a statewide Registry. Visit the Arizona EMS Office website for more information.

Other key components of the statewide system are the Regional Trauma System and the Region EMS. These systems were modeled after the Federal Department of Transportation EMS system. It is the oldest and most extensive in the country.

A variety of ancillary features are also included in the statewide EMS/Trauma System. These include the Arizona EMS Information System Manual. It is the official reference document for the Arizona EMS Information System. Also on the site is a listing of testing sites, which can be found in a PDF.

Another state achievement is the establishment a statewide Trauma Registry. The database is used to keep track of injuries and deaths in order develop cost-effective solutions for the victims. The state registry not only stores and coordinates records, but it also serves as an educational tool.

There are many subspecialty services and ancillary services in Arizona. The state's EMS and trauma system is growing. Arizona's EMS and Trauma System should be able to develop a coherent and meaningful agenda in the coming years. It is possible that a national coalition will soon develop a similar agenda for injury control research.

Although EMS may not be the most glamorous profession in the world it provides valuable service for Arizona citizens. Arizona EMS and Trauma System strives to improve Arizona's quality life by providing emergency services and trauma treatment, education and quality improvements.
